Change of plan

So sorry but with all the work I'm doing it is impossible to do anything with this blog .....aaarrgggh
I've decided instead to use the Mama Don't facebook page and maybe a blog/diary style thing on the web site (got to sort that out yet).

If I have a lot to say - I'll direct you back here!!

Gigs and rehearsals

Hi,
The mini fest was great ... everyone enjoyed it and I hope it will now be a regular feature for the Whaley weekend. I haven't had a chance to write it up as Elrieke arrived on the Monday and we have been playing and doing open mic stuff almost every day. Leopold comes in today and they have a gig tonight in Whaley Bridge, and another on Sunday in Barnoldswick.

So it's all go and no rest until July but I'm loving every minute of it!

Almost there...

Less than two weeks to go to the 'W3 Friday Fest'. It has been a lot of hard work and a lot of fun. I've made new friends and learnt a lot.
On Tuesday we have the 'run through' to work out the running order and on Wednesday 1st of June, the final radio show - Canalside Radio in Macclesfield have generously given us time for 6 songs between 6pm and 8pm.

After that I will put the program together and make the handouts for the audience ..... after that it's 'in the lap of the Gods'. I hope they smile on us!!

Radio show

Did an interview on High Peak radio last week with Matt and Mark - they did a great job - I garbled a bit - but it's not too bad.

All work and no play....

Hi there,
This weekend I have to take the boat and re-black the hull. That means that I will be the same colour for the next week too, as I have a tendency to get it all over me!!
I'm working away madly on the Whaley Water Weekend - Friday Mini Fest, that's all going quite well. I could have done with a bit more time, but couldn't get started until we got the go-ahead from British Waterways.
No matter, it's all good fun. I just want to make sure it's a huge success so that it will continue in future years.
Time to go - things to do.

Working on the boat

At the moment I am trying to prepare the boat for the coming season. Would you believe I have been stripping the paint from the front deck in order to repaint it?? (I have had some help from Tony - but I did a lot of it myself).
At the end of the month 'The Busker' goes into dry dock so the hull can be 'blacked' again and I also want to touch up the paintwork at the same time.... it's all go!!

On the work front I'm involved with Whaley Water Weekend - primarily with the music on the Friday night. There will be more details on the web site soon.

Gotta go - work to be done.....

Prayers for Japan

I'm still working on the project but everything is overshadowed by the earthquake in Japan.
I keep thinking of all those poor people wandering around the ruins of their shattered lives searching for their lost loved ones. I'm sure that many are not sure whether they were 'lucky to survive' as their future is now so uncertain.
Cities can be rebuilt but to rebuild lives is not so easy.
We continue to live in uncertain times.

Getting Ready

Hello again.
Having been iced in and 'cabined up' over the winter months it is now time to take stock and decide what comes next.

The accounts have been done, the boat needs some attention as there's quite a bit of paintwork to sort out (I did knock her around a bit last year!). The bottom needs blacking and there are various bits of equipment that need fitting - but it will all get done.

I'm hoping to be on my way again at the start of May. I was going to take the same route as last year - but now I'm not so sure if I want to do that. A lot will depend on what happens over the next two months.

I do now have a lovely professional Mama Don't web site - thanks to my friends at www.fotofire.com and I'm working to get that tidied up so that I'm ready for anything.

The story of last year's trip is still awaiting completion - then I will put it onto the website as one document for anyone who is interested... it was a great trip, lots of fun, lots of hard work and a great feeling of satisfaction at having completed it!

At this moment in time I'm banging my head on a lot of brick walls - but I reckon my head is stronger and will win in the end.
