Looking for a boat....
The place that has been my home for the past 8 years, the very same one that I was going to stay in until they took me out in a box, is now sold 'subject to contract' and I will very soon be out on my ear!
At the moment 'home' is a 17th century cottage, listed because of the beautiful frieze work, and so I couldn't possibly leave here and go to live in an ordinary house. To avoid feeling cheated I have decided that I would do something I've always wanted to do and so I'm going to live on a narrowboat.
The search is on right now and I'm trying to decide on whether a second- hand boat is a better bet than a new one. It's so difficult when you know so little, but I'm learning slowly and surely and feel that the right boat will certainly come along at the right time. Then I have to work out how to get a small recording facility on board. I am determined that I am going to record a solo album for my own satisfaction but the 'studio' will also be more than helpful in terms of my Mama Don't project as it will also double as a PA when needed.
That's all a little way off of course, as I still have commitments with Magna Carta. The 40 year celebration concert takes place on the 11th of May in The Carre, Amsterdam. It is also the 'farewell' concert because after that date Magna Carta will only do select gigs and tours.
Chris owns the name Magna Carta and it will be up to him whether he wants to take work or not, and it may not involve me at all if I'm busy working on something else.
So it's 'all change' and away we go into a very different future.
I'll let you know when I find the boat!!
